On the edge of The Lake District, this historic home built in the 18th century in 1789, has been beautifully updated to provide a fusion of modern convenience and technology while retaining features of its original grace.

The Retreat has 3 floors, 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 1 open concept living room and kitchen area and a share utility room. You will have your own bedroom but will share a bathroom with other housemates. A cleaning services is also provided for the bathrooms and kitchen.

Absolutely fantastic downtown location on a quiet cul-de-sac. There’s a little alley that takes you directly onto the Main Street. No need to drive or find parking, as you can simply wander leisurely around this “Gem Town” of Cockermouth.
In just a short, 2 minute stroll, you can enjoy the sights as you walk or cycle from the front door along the nature paths or riverside trails, or enjoy the Kirkgate’s live music, film and theatre. Easy cycle ride to the lakes or harder rides over Whinlatter pass. Night life is abundant at restaurants and pubs, including the 16th century Castle Bar, a CAMRA award winning pub.
