The property is situated in the pretty village of Herne with it's 12th Century church and Herne Mill built in 1789 which is one of the oldest working mills in the country. Herne, on the outskirts of the traditional seaside resort of Herne Bay has a village store/Post Office, pub and micropub. Take the pathway alongside the property and in less than a minute you are walking in open countryside.
A 6 mile drive from Herne village takes you to historic Canterbury which is a medieval walled city which has been hosting visitors for more than a 1000 years.  If visiting over Christmas a visit to the magical Christmas Market in the magnificent Canterbury Cathedral precincts is not to be missed, featuring German-style wooden huts serving delicious festive food and drinks.  Tread the cobbled streets to explore the many historical sights, cultural buildings and attractions. Another way to explore this city is by sitting back and taking a relaxing punt along the river Stour that runs through Canterbury. To finish off the day try one of the many pubs and award-winning restaurants offering a diverse range of foods.

There is something for everyone on Herne Bay's pier from crabbing off the side of the pier to traditional seaside fun for all the family. For the hungry there's various food and drink outlets from traditional fish and chips, pizzas and Thai food or just sit and have a refreshing Beer on the Pier. During the summer months there are regular live bands performing on the pier's open air arena.  Along the seafront there are restaurants with outside seating providing stunning views of the beach, including A La Turka Restaurant with all year round outside protective seating with a sea view. Next to the pier is a bandstand where you can often listen to live music, especially at weekends, whilst enjoying a coffee or snack at the adjacent cafe or you can take a stroll through the pretty beachfront gardens.

From Herne Bay you can take a 45 minute walk along the the coastal path to Whitstable taking you first through Tankerton with it's array of colourful beach huts. Whitstable is a charming coastal hotspot famous for it's local oysters. Here you will find an excellent selection of fine restaurants, independent shops, art galleries and trendy boutiques or take a walk around the pretty harbour to see the fishing boats arriving with their daily catch. From the harbour you can take a boat trip around the bay on a vintage lifeboat or for the more adventurous take a trip on the "Greta" Thames sailing barge.
