This is what a previous tenant (7years) said

The Flat

👍 Lots of space in the living area

👍 Everything works well: shower, cooker, etc. (and landlord always quickly replaced anything that broke)

👍 Neighbours generally quiet and respectful

👍 Landlord gave the freedom to make it feel like property was their own

👍 Easy to ventilate in hot summers with the big windows

👎 High street can be noisy, especially on market days, but…you get used to it

👍 The bedroom is generally very quiet, especially with the door shut

The Landlord

👍 Lovely lady

👍 Fixed any problems almost immediately

👍 Always replied quickly to any messages

👍 Made sure the contract, deposit, etc. was all done properly

👍 Always had safety checks, etc., performed on the property each year

👍 Sorts stuff out with building owner/neighbours whenever there's a building-wide problem

👍 Lets you get on with things when there weren't any problems

The Area

👍 Real mix of shops; if you like food, there's all kinds of cheap veg shops and asian supermarkets to buy different kinds of food from

👍 Some nice cafes and pubs nearby (if you work remotely the cafe Badger Badger is really good)

👍 Deptford market is a proper old school market, so you can get every day stuff cheaply

👍 Greenwich is a 15 minute walk away (there's a really nice park and more "upmarket" market)

👍 Well connected; you can get to London Bridge in 5 to 10 mins from Deptford Station, then New Cross is just down the road, and New Cross Gate about a 20 min walk

👍 Apart from food shops, there's loads of other good stuff in walking distance like good gyms, book shops, and open green spaces

👎 As mentioned, the high street can be a bit noisy, though you get used to it

👎 Busy area if you're bothered by lots of people (although Blackheath above Greenwich is in walking distance and is a bunch of fields!)

The Neighbours

👍 Neighbour upstairs is really great, helped sort out any building-wide problems, respectful with noise etc., and just a really nice guy

👍 Downstairs shop owners are friendly and easy to get along with, never had any problems, and nice to talk to

👍 Although obviously neighbours may change, landlord has had no problems with current ones living either side, and they're generally quiet

This is what the current tenant (almost  3 years) says:

Deptford is a vibrant community of diverse people. Its streets and market are a dense celebration of cultural heterogeneity, and, although sometimes chaotic and messy, it is in this colorful disorder that lies the core spirit of the neighborhood. Living in the High Street means to deep-dive in the energetic variety of lifestyles that keeps it alive: Asian and Caribbean communities, Goldsmith students, punks and hippies, all together in a whirlpool of sensations and clashing attitudes. An atmosphere that has been preserved for decades, which is definitely a must to look into if you are planning to live here: its environs like New Cross, Greenwich and Lewisham Centre are full of history which still shapes the beating peace of its roads. This flat is a bright window on all of this.
