The house:
You’ll be staying in a lovely house on a quiet residential cul de sac, away from the main road with really friendly landladies (couple) and neighbours. Recently redecorated - modern (neutral) and tasteful, with laminate floors throughout and carpet on the stairs.
Your room is on the 1st floor. It’s a spacious, light bedroom with two sets of large fitted wardrobes, storage under the bed, a desk, chair, bedside tables and lamps and views into the garden - south facing sun and residential back garden with access road. ( quiet!)
As our lodger you will be welcome to use the kitchen and equipment during reasonable hours with consideration for noise. There is a large fridge capacity and cupboard for food storage.
A dining area with office space is available when residents aren’t working. (Mon-fri 7-4 hours). There is also a conservatory room with dining and lounge facilities for the warmer days looking into the south facing patio garden.
There is one shared main bathroom with a large strong shower and toilet and a separate cloakroom toilet downstairs.
Off street parking is available on neighbouring roads, restrictions on our road apply- free on weekends or after 6.30pm weekdays.
The house comprises of 3 double bedrooms and a single box room. We use the loft and box rooms as guest bedrooms / laundry drying space.
Transport & local area:
Easy to get around London using public transport - 5 min walk to Morden underground (Northern line 25 mins to Waterloo ) or get the 93 bus to Wimbledon in around 10 mins. 163 from our road takes you to Raynes Park overground in 15mins. 8 min walk to Morden South Train line and easy access to tram link also Morden Road/Phipps bridge.
In the centre of Morden you’ll find several cafes (costa) and typical town centre eateries (KFC , kokoro, Subway, Greggs), some restaurants and supermarkets (Lidl, Iceland, boots, Superdrug and Sainsbury’s) all situated around the tube. There are several different gyms ranging from On1Fitness, Lloyds, F45 the newly refurbished Morden leisure centre.
It’s an easy 10 min stroll to both Morden Park where the Leisure centre with swimming pool is located and Lower Morden Garden centre with cafe, and Morden Hall Park in opposite direction (National Trust 5-10 mins) and of course the annual Tennis in Wimbledon and Wimbledon Common is easy to get to. A recent addition to the area this summer was the “free to book tennis courts” supplied by the LTA 10 min walk away located in the north-east corner of Morden Park, best accessed from Links Avenue. There are 4 tarmac macadam tennis courts.
House etiquette:
We take pride in cleanliness so shoes are left at the door. We have a cleaner every fortnight and so keeping your room respectfully tidy/hygienic is required.
This is a calm and peaceful space - we are experienced in long term lodgers (female and male) with no previous issues. Two longer term lodgers ( both two years + consecutively ) and more recently a female who is moving on to buy a place of their own. We remain good friends and in touch with all previous lodgers. Currently we have a lovely female lodger who's looking for a new place - as we have the luxury of space, move in date is flexible as we can accommodate her in our guest room should we need to for any overlap. We have very infrequently used the loft room option for short term lodging but occasionally this can be facilitated.
You will be staying with a friendly professional couple (both in mid/late thirties - 2x females) and a small friendly dog that is not allowed beyond the ground floor. ( he is cheeky at times though! ) He is also crate trained and very loving. He is a quiet dog unless there is someone at the door…
As hosts we don’t wish to entertain any extra permanent guests. The room is for one lodger on a long term basis but visitors are welcome but would ask this does not exceed the 1 or 2 days at a time with exceptions that can be discussed. We are conscious we don’t wish to live with a full time couple and the advert is priced for an individual. This is reflected in the bills as we do include the majority of them - however we split the gas and electric only , by the number of people in the house.
We are looking for someone respectful, friendly and considerate. We are essentially not looking for a house share, but a lodger who wants to live in a nice house and with nice company welcome, who may want or may not want to socialise from time to time. Previous lodgers have worked long and unsocial hours which is not a problem. We also welcome both male and female enquiries however will conduct interviews before we entertain accepting anyone into our home.
