I’m looking for two professional people to share my lovely 1760 three storey double fronted house in Cromford, Derbyshire (DE4 ). The house is fully renovated with double glazed sash windows, central heating etc.
Each person will get their OWN LOUNGE AND DOUBLE BEDROOM, furnished with new bed and 1-2 nice sofas, and separated from the rest of the house by their own individual internal door making them feel like mini flats. These internal doors lead to a shared kitchen (shared by us all) and bathroom, shared by only the two lodgers, with a cleaner every two weeks included.
The person on the ground floor gets their own exclusive entrance (the main front door) leading into lovely old lounge/reception room with beams, two nice sofas, and original inglenook fireplace. This leads to the bedroom, originally the dining room, and a door leading to the kitchen and stairs to the bathroom. The second person gets the same rooms on the floor above, accessed by the rear first floor door across a little bridge. Decor is new/almost new and both have new/almost new double bed memory foam mattresses. I had been planning to offer on Air BnB but decided that I’m just not around enough to run it as such.
The house is just off the Via Gellia overlooking an old mill dam at the edge of the village. I’ll set up a small garden sitting out area for you with outdoor furniture at the rear of the house for the good weather to come. I’m 250 yards from 3 pubs (Boat Inn is fantastic), and Scarthin books + vegan cafe is 150 yadrs away which is a total gem of a place. Close to the A6 to Derby and Leek, the routes to Manchester and M6, not far from Nottingham and Sheffield. There is street parking 20-50m From the house.
I’m looking for professionals, 25-65, preferably not working from home full time, purely based on the not inconsiderable cost of heating the place during the day as well as eve/night. However I’m not ruling out people who are retired.
I’m 53, former teacher and university lecturer and now an educational consultant. I’m away a lot staying with my partner in Ireland or working so I’m actually not often in. With this being really quite a large and expensive house to to run and my children grown up and left this is a bit of a waste of money and too lovely a home to leave empty tbh.
I have a dog, Max, a lovely quiet and gentle ginger Laboradoodle. He’s getting on now and I’m not certain he’d get on with other dogs but im not ruling it out, if you do have a dog we could discuss and see what’s what I’m certainly not ruling it out, if you have a friendly, gen tle and chilled dog it could even be the odd bit company for him.
I like to think I’m a nice easy person to get on with. I’m looking for someone to not make too much noise and respect the other lodger. I’m fine with partners coming to stay etc. I’m totally happy for you to do a DBS/CRB check on me as I’ve been a teacher/lecturer for a long time.
