Our Gainsborough House site is located in Milborne Port, there are 10 self-contained units providing accommodation for single or married couples. Each flat is renovated to a very high standard and is designed for independent living, within a Christian community
Gainsborough House is pleasantly situated overlooking allotments and fields on the western edge of Milborne Port, 2 miles east of Sherborne in Dorset.

Gainsborough House, originally a Victorian villa with stabling, became a Christian Retirement Home for Christians of limited means in 1981, originally with 10 residents mostly accommodated in the converted stables. Having fallen into a state of disrepair, the site was acquired by LWPHomes in 2017 and has been skilfully converted to provide 10 spacious and modern assisted living units for couples, both in the original house and round the attractive courtyard.

Completely equipped for modern living with kitchen appliances, wet room, nursecall and security systems, broadband and phone system and ready for occupation, LWPHomes has created an attractive and peaceful community for retirees.

Rental costs are as detailed below:

Each flat costs £650.00 per month rent plus £325.00 Service Charge (Total £975)

The service charge on the units includes:-

• Telephone & call charges (excluding premium rate and international calls)
• Unlimited Broadband & Wi-Fi in each unit
• Electricity & Gas charges
• Water & Sewerage charges
• Maintenance of the site, grounds and communal areas
• Caretaker & 24/7 Emergency support provided by Careline 365

Council Tax and TV Licenses are not included in our fees and will need to be met by the Tenant/s.

Local Amenities

Within a few minutes’ walk, there is a doctors’ surgery, butcher, chemist, Co-op, newsagent and the well-known “Tippling Philosopher” public house. Sherborne offers a wide range of shops and supermarkets and the castle attracts visitors from all over the world.

Priority for Admission

The key criterion for admission of tenants is that they are retired (over 60) and they have an enthusiasm to reside in and embrace an active Christian community.
