Our house in Main Street, Yaxley, once the village post office, is a 300 year old cottage in the old part of a very large village, 6 miles south of Peterborough, 4 minutes from the A1. Buses into Peterborough run past the door every 30 minutes.

The 14' x 16' downstairs bedsit is furnished with a king-size bed with pine headboard, pine bedroom suite (wardrobe, bedside drawers and chest of drawers with mirrors), double sofs-bed,, coffee table, lamp, pine TV stand, rocking chair and upright chair, kitchen unit, microwave, large fridge-feezer, kettle and toaster.. Bedding for both bed and sofa-bed supplied. Central heating via fan-heater and an electric coal-effect stove.This bedroom is £600 per month.

Accommodation shared with the rest of the household includes:
Bathroom and separate WC upstairs, shower room with WC downstairs.
Lounge, dining room, kitchen and large utility room downstairs.

At present the property is shared by a retired couple (the owners) a Ukrainian family, and a single female.

Yaxley has a large recreation ground, with football and cricket pitches etc. as well as play equipment. There are three public houses, which all serve food, as well as a carvery, a baker's shop/cafe, two Chinese take-aways, a kebab shop, two fish-and-chip shops, an Indian take-away, and a Pizza restaurant.
There is a shopping centre with post office, library and one of the best health centres in the country. Several convenience stores and a Co-op supermarket (lots of fair-trade goods). Gift shops, two charity shops and two pharmacies. One of the largest Tesco supermarkets in Europe is just 3 miles away in Serpentine Green, Hampton, which also boasts other High Street stores and eateries.
Peterborough itself is a cathedral city with museum, shopping centres and an attractive park. A Showcase Cinema complex is on the eastern outskirts, and Ferry Meadows, an attractive country park with lakes, to the west.
