Room in a Shared House, Sydenham, SE26

I am looking for a housemate to move into the bungalow I rent in lovely Sydenham, on a quiet road just off Kirkdale.

The rent is £850 per month and council tax is £85 (Lewisham Band D) plus other bills.

The room is a double with a big west-facing window so lots of afternoon sun. There’s a double bed and lots of inbuilt storage. Wood floor. Currently a fridge in there too but obviously that will be moved out!

There’s a nice living room with French windows direct to the private garden. There’s also a working fireplace which is makes it very cosy.

Downstairs there’s another small room where people can stay over/we can dry laundry/there’s a desk. 

Kitchen and bathroom are functional if a bit scruffy - like lots of rentals it needs a bit of work doing. But generally I love the house and think it has lots of character. It’s spacious for two - my room is upstairs.

I’ve lived here about two and half years, I rent directly from the landlord who I’ve never had any issues with.

Connections-wise, Sydenham station with overground/trains to London Bridge is a ten min walk away and it’s about a 15 min walk into Forest Hill.

House itself is on a cul de sac with allotments over the road so generally quiet, and there’s a big private garden which is amazing in summer for hanging out in/morning coffee/BBQs etc. It has a pear tree and a grape vine. I love growing things and you can too if you like!

You’d be sharing with me - I am a 37 year old English teacher - and also my cat Bruce so no other pets unfortunately. Sorry! Cat lovers are a bonus.

I like watching TV, reading, the arts, going on long walks, going out dancing. I’m looking for someone kind and respectful who has their own life but also wouldn’t say no to some dinners/TV hangs. 

Partners/friends can of course stay over but no couples please. I get up pretty early for work so need the house to be relatively quiet late on week day evenings. I would prefer someone thirties onwards.

The rental contract with the landlord is initially til the end of June and then we can review.
